Emplifi, a leading Autonomous CX platform, released its Q3 2026 Social Media Benchmarks report, revealing Instagram engagement rate per impression reached 1.52% worldwide and 1.51% in the United States, up 68% and 97% respectively, year over year. In the U.S., brands earned 29 median interactions per post in Q3 compared to 30 median interactions per post in Q3 2025. Median impressions per post fell 48% worldwide and 59% in the U.S.

After likes, shares are the second most popular interaction type on brand Reels, carousels, and images, accounting for 12.4% of post interactions within the highest reach group worldwide.

“A like tells you someone noticed, while a share tells you someone cared enough to pass it on. Our data makes clear that brands are building real engagement and are seeing performance metrics that have a measurable impact on the bottom line,” said Susan Ganeshan, Chief Marketing Officer at Emplifi. “A share creates an opportunity for a post to become a conversation that leads to a new customer. Winning brands on social platforms use AI to build connected campaigns that autonomously link what they publish to whatever happens next in a personalized customer journey. With AI, brands now have the technology to move at the same speed, and in the same direction, as their audience.”
